Braves will skip Mike Minor's next start

New, comments

Minor will get some time off to hopefully help get him back to 2013 form

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

After yesterday's poor outing in a favorable stadium against a very weak offense, the Braves are opting to skip Mike Minor's spot in the rotation next time out, according to Kevin McAlpin.

Minor will be available out of the bullpen in the meantime, and his next start will be August 12 against the Dodgers.

It has been a frustrating season for Minor. He has a 5.42 ERA and has been worth -0.1 WAR. Last season he had a 3.21 ERA and a 3.5 WAR, plus he threw 200 innings. Who knows how much his injury in the spring has hurt his results this year, but his velocity is right in line with his numbers from last year. He seems to be leaving the ball over the plate a lot, so hopefully he is able to work on things with this time off and come back right for the final month and a half of the season.
