Pawtucket Red Sox 4, Gwinnett Braves 3
- Todd Cunningham, CF: 3-4, 2B(16), HR(7), .284
- Christian Bethancourt, C: 0-4, .273
- Sean Kazmar, 3B: 2-4, .306
- Aaron Northcraft, SP: 7.1 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 3 BB, 4 K, 5.94 ERA
Todd Cunningham was basically all of Gwinnett's offense tonight, falling a triple shy of the cycle in 4 at-bats. Sean Kazmar was the only other Braves to notch a multi hit game. Aaron Northcraft was the unlucky loser tonight, allowing 3 runs on 3 hits. He stuck out 4, but walked 3 - not exactly an ideal ratio.
Montgomery Biscuits 0, Mississippi Braves 2
- Myke Jones, RF: 1-3, 2B(22), .267
- Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 1-3, .293
- Greg Ross, SP: 6.2 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K, 2.12 ERA
I have no idea how Mississippi won this game, considering they managed only 3 hits all night and were outhit 7-3. But that was enough to scrape across a pair of runs and Greg Ross did the rest. Ross certainly doesn't have overpowering stuff (only 1 K) but was still able to spin 6.2 shutout innings of work in securing the win.
Lynchburg Hillcats 4, Winston-Salem Dash 3
- Jose Martinez, DH: 2-5, .325
- Kevin Ahrens, 3B: 3-5, 2B(35), .264
- Wes Parsons, SP: 2 IP, 6 H, 3 R(1 ER), 1 BB, 1 K, 4.52 ERA
- Brady Feigl, RP: 3.2 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 6 K, 0.69 ERA
Wes Parsons was roughed up and let down by his defense last night, but Brady Feigl was absolutely nails in relief of Parsons, as he went 3.2 innings, allowed only 1 hit, and struck out 6 men. Lynchburg managed to beat White Sox first rounder Carlos Rodon, though he did strike out 7 men in 3.2 innings. Kevin Ahrens notched himself a 3 hit game with yet another double, while Jose Martinez notched a pair as well.
Rome Braves 3, Greenville Drive 4
- Ross Wilson, DH: 2-4, 2B(12), HR(7), .250
- Alejandro Piloto, LF: 2-4, .250
- Sean Godfrey, CF: 2-4, 2 SB(8,9), .282
- Steve Janas, SP: 6 IP, 4 H, 4 R(3 ER), 1 BB, 1 K, 4.69 ERA
Rome's punchless and unremarkable lineup managed 3 runs tonight, but it was not enough. Ross Wilson was basically the entirety of the offense, going 2-4 with a double and a home run. Sean Godfrey had a nice night as well, nothing two singles and two stolen bases. Steve Janas had a thoroughly mediocre start, allowing 4 runs(3 earned) in 6 innings of work.
Danville Braves 8, Burlington Royals 3
- Braxton Davidson, LF: 2-2, 2 2B, BB
- Joseph Daris, CF: 2-4, .265
- Ozhaino Albies, SS: 1-3, BB, .375
- Michael Flores, SP: 2 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 3.05 ERA
- Carlos Salazar, SP: 3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 5 K, 1.44 ERA
Braxton Davidson wasted no time making a splash in Danville, as Atlanta's top prospect had a perfect day in his debut. Davidson roped a pair of double and walked in 3 appearances. Michael Flores and Carlos Salazar piggybacked the start, and both were fantastic. Flores got all 6 of his outs via strikeout, while Salazar whiffed 5 of the 9 men he got out.
