Pawtucket Red Sox 15, Gwinnett Braves 9

  • Elmer Reyes SS: 2-5, HR (3), 2R
  • Joey Terdoslavich 1B: 1-5, R
  • Christian Bethancourt C: 3-5, HR (7), 2B (16), 2R

  • Luis Avilan: 2.1IP, 3H, ER, 2BB, 2K
  • Carlos Fisher: 0.2IP, 5H, 6ER, 2BB, K
It was an bizarro game at Coolray field Monday night as Gwinnett eventually fell 15-9. After Pawtucket went ahead 9-0 after 6, Gwinnet scored one in the 7th and 8 in the 8th to tie the game up. It was quite a remarkable feat, however they decided to give up six runs in the 9th to take the loss. Wild.

As you might expect, the pitching was atrocious. The good news was the offense came to play including Christian Bethancourt who homed for the 7th time this season adding his 16th double. He wound up falling a triple shy of the cycle, scoring two of the nine runs on the night. Elmer Reyes also went deep, the third time for him with Gwinnett. Every player in the lineup accorded a hit, with only two failing to score a run. What a wild, wild game.

It was another absolute wild one out of the gates as 11 runs were scored over the first nine outs of the game. Rome scored three in the top of the first, allowed four in the bottom, and then answered with four of their own in the top of the second. They tacked on one in the fifth and four more in the 8th tot ale the 12-5 win. Jacob Schrader reached four of his five times to the plate, driving in two. Tyler Brosius got the start and wasn't exactly sharp, walking five batters to one strikeout over four innings of work. Matt Kimbrel and Zach Jadofsky threw a combined five scoreless to hold off Greenville.
