Durham Bulls 7, Gwinnett Braves 0

  • Evan Gattis 0-4
  • Joey Terdoslavich 1B: 1-4
  • Ozzie Martinez 2B: 2-2, BB
  • Aaron Northcraft: 5.1IP, 11H, 6ER, BB, 3K
  • Pedro Beato: 1.2IP, 2H, ER, 0BB, 2K
It was a rough one for the G-Braves as the Bulls put a beat down on them in their first game back from the All-Star break. Aaron Northcraft was roughed up over 5+ innings, giving up 11 runs on six hits. Evan Gattis made his first rehab start going 0-4. Gattis will be down here until his timing is right and he can get his legs back under him, hopefully that is soon. At the end of the day, it was in fact Mark Bowman night - so everybody wins.

Gwinnett Stats

Mississippi Braves 2, Birmingham Barons 3

  • Jose Peraza DH: 0-5
  • Rich Poythress 1B: 1-4, 2B (7), R
  • Daniel Castro SS: 2-4, R
  • David Rohm RF: 1-3, BB
  • Greg Ross: 6IP, 5H, 2ER, 2BB, 6K
  • Ryne Harper: 1.2IP, 2H, ER, BB, 2K

Greg Ross continued his fine work since being recalled from Lynchburg, allowing two runs over six innings. Unfortunately, after Ryne Harper allowed a run in the 8th, the M-Braves couldn't rally back in the 9th, losing 3-2. Daniel Castro led the charge, going 2-4 with a run scored. There was very little punch on offense as the team went 2-for-10 w/ RISP. 26-year-old Rich Poythress had the only extra base hit, his first double with the M-Braves.

Mississippi Stats

Carolina Mudcats 1, Lynchburg Hillcats 2

  • Daniel Carroll CF: 1-3
  • Kevin Ahrens 1-4, 2B (29), R
  • Justin Bloxom 1B: 1-4, 2B (4)
  • Levi Hyams 2B: 1-2, 2B (17), BB

  • David Peterson: 2IP, 2H, 0ER, 0BB, K
  • Cody Fassold: IP, H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K

Justin Bloxom was responsible for the walk-off win Thursday night, as his double to center field scored pinch-runner David Nick, giving Lynchburg the 2-1 win. The bats were pretty silent for most of the night aside from doubles from Kevin Ahrens and Levi Hyams. Ahrens hit his 29th two bagger - it's pretty fun to see him and Skinner go back-and-forth this season. Cody Scarpetta threw six innings of one run ball, striking out six, keeping the 'cats lineup caged. Cody Fassold made his first appearance with Lynchburg since being demoted from Mississippi, throwing a scoreless 9th, picking up the win.

Lynchburg Stats

Greenville Drive 4, Rome Braves 6

  • Connor Oliver RF: 1-5, 3B (5), R, OF assist
  • Sean Godfrey CF: 2-4, 3B (1), R
  • Ross Wilson 2B: 2-3, BB
  • Connor Lien LF: 2-3, 2B (9), BB, R, SB (9)

  • Andy Otero: 2IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 4K
  • Pete Perez: IP, H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K

It got scary for Rome in the ninth, but Richie Tate was able to close the door despite allowing two runs, taking a 6-4 win. The offense came to play, rapping out 11 hits while coaxing three walks. Connor Oliver and Sean Godfrey each tripled, drove in, and scored a run. Ross Wilson and Connor Lien added two hits a piece, with Lien adding a double. Andy Otero had a standout performance in the 'pen, throwing two perfect innings and striking out four.

Rome Stats

Bristol Pirates 3, Danville Braves 2

  • Omar Obregon 2B: 2-4, BB
  • Jordan Edgerton 3B: 0-5
  • Bryan De La Rosa C: 1-3, BB, R
  • Fernelys Sanchez RF: 1-4, 2B (5)

  • Tyler Vail: IP, H, 0ER, 0BB, 2K
  • Colby Holmes: 2IP, H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K
Danville rallied in the 9th, but fell a run short, talking a 3-2 loss to Bristol. The D-Braves reached base 11 times, but couldn't plate a run until the ninth. 20-year-old Omar Obregon had the only multi-hit game, raising his average to .327 in his first 17 games. Andrew Waszak had a mediocre start, allowing three runs on five hits over five innings. After making his way up to Lynchburg last season, the 23-year-old has found himself back in rookie ball fighting to say in the Danville rotation. Carlos Salazar threw a scoreless ninth allowing no hits or walks.

Danville Stats

GCL Yankees1 1, GCL Braves 4

  • Ozhaino Albies SS: 2-2, 2B (3), HBP, 2R

  • Jordany Santana: 5IP, 3H, 0ER, 2BB, 4K
  • Jorge Zavala: 2IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 3K
Despite only five hits, the GCL squad scored four runs while holding the Yankees1 to scoreless past the first. Jorandy and Jeorge only surrendered three hits, allowing one unearned run. 17-year-old Ozhaino Albies continues to impress, reaching base all three times at the plate, leading to two of the four runs scored for the Braves. Luke Dykstra drove in two of the four runs with a single, getting the start at second. Braxton Davidson went hitless in three PA's.
