An MRI has shown that Evan Gattis has a bulging thoracic disk and will receive an epidural, according to the Braves twitter account.
Gattis had 16 home runs and a .290 average before the injury, and was looking to be headed to his first All Star game in his first season as a regular. He still may make it, but he certainly will not be playing in it.
Christian Bethancourt will be manning the plate along with Gerald Laird until Gattis is back and ready to play. We will update the post when we get an idea on the timeline of Evan's injury. No corresponding move has been announced yet.
