Gwinnett was able to score two runs late, taking a 3-2 win over Buffalo Tuesday. Ian Thomas made his first start since being demoted from the Braves 'pen, throwing 3 perfect innings, striking out five. Thomas only threw 28 of his 50 pitches for strikes, but proved to be effective enough for his first time out. The Braves want Thomas to work on his slider, something that could make him a feared weapon against lefties in games late. Zach Stewart piggybacked Thomas, throwing the six final innings (odd I know). It is not every day you see a 92 pitch relief appearance, but welcome to minor league baseball. Tommy La Stella reach yet again via walk. Todd Cunningham poked three single through the infield and is now teetering with a .300 average on the season. Joey Terdoslavich and Phil Gosselin also had multi-hit nights, continuing their impressive start to the season.
La Stella barrels the ball so consistently. It's a pleasant sight. Absolutely no lift in the swing though.

Lynchburg failed to capitalize on a beautiful performance from Wes Parsons, who threw seven innings of two run ball. He was able to induce six strikeouts, holding Carolina to zero walks. Nate Hyatt was charged with a blown save and a loss, however, only one of the three runs charges to his name were earned. Jose Peraza and Hyatt himself each committed an error on defense. Peraza made up for his miscues in the field with a 2-4 night, driving in one of the three Lynchburg runs. Tyler Tewell has another multi-hit performance, this time from the DH spot. The Hillcats struck out nine times and were 0-7 with runners in scoring position.
