Tyler Pastornicky made his first start back in Triple-A Gwinnett

Gwinnett took the final game of the series in Pawtucket on the back of a fine performance from Zach Stewart. Throwing 114 pitches, the rightly pitched into the 8th, only giving up three runs on six hits. Pedro Beato closed the door for his second save of the season. In his first start since being demoted, Tyler Pastornicky went 2-4 with a double and run scored. Phil Gosselin, who played SS, also collected two hits including his first home run of the season. He raid his average to a very respectable .337.

Lynchburg scored five runs over the final three frames, rallying from a 3-1 deficit to take the win. The club as a whole roped out 11 hits, including doubles from Levi Hyams, Daniel Castro and Edison Sanchez. Left fielder David Nick also joined in on the action, going 2-4 and scoring twice. Lay Bautista had himself quite an outing, only giving up two hits and one unearned run over five innings of work. 26-year-old Ryan Kelly shut the door for his second save of the season.

After holding the Savannah offense scoreless for 10 straight innings, Tyler Vail surrendered a run in the 12th, giving Savannah the W. Victor Caratini was the driving force on offense, going 4-6 with his second triple of the season, raising his seasonal average to .302. Jacob Schrader and Blake Brown also had multi-hit performances, collecting doubles number six and nine, respectively. Rome only needed three pitchers to work through the 12 inning affair. Yeah Carlos Gil got the start and gave up one earned through six, lowering his ERA to 1.70. He also improved his K/BB to 41/7 in 2014.
