The G-Braves were only able to scrap together five hits on Saturday but were able to make the most of them, scoring four runs to take the win against the Tides. The bottom of Gwinnett's lineup provided the only offense of note, with Edward Salcedo ripping his fourth home run and Ozzie Martinez collecting a couple of hits, including his first triple with the G-Braves. Salcedo's .613 OPS this season is certainly a disappointment, but he's showing more power of late, slugging .500 in his last ten games. Zach Stewart got the start and pitched decently over six and one-third frames, allowing two earned runs on eight hits and two walks, striking out five. Atahualpa Severino and Juan Jaime were impressive in relief, with Jaime collecting his tenth save of the season in an inning of work, striking out two.

Mississippi couldn't overcome a six-run fifth inning against Chattanooga, eventually falling to the Lookouts 6-3. Jason Hursh was on the mound and cruised through four innings before facing adversity in the fifth, giving up six runs on seven hits in the frame. Again, Ian Morris and I were at the game in order to get an updated look at Hursh and should have some notes up on his performance later this week. The bullpen fared well against the Lookouts, allowing only a combined two hits through just over three innings. Barrett Kleinknecht collected the only extra-base hit of the evening for the M-Braves in a pinch-hit appearances, lacing his eighth double of the season. Myke Jones and Seth Loman each collected a couple of hits, and Braeden Schlehuber knocked in a couple of runs.

Lynchburg's offense couldn't get much going on Saturday, scoring two runs on eight hits, all of which were singles, in a loss to Winston-Salem. Kyle Wren and David Nick collected a couple of singles apiece, the only two players to have a multi-hit game. Wren is on fire of late, slashing .313/.375/.438 with five walks and four stolen bases over his last ten games. After being released from the Diamondbacks organization earlier this season, Daniel Watts got the start for Lynchburg, tossing four solid innings, allowing no runs on four hits and fanning four. The lanky lefty was drafted in the 32nd round in 2012 by the D-Backs out of Jacksonville State University and saw some success in Low-A in 2013 before getting absolutely pounded in the California League in both 2013 and 2014. Nate Hyatt pitched two innings and allowed no hits and no runs, walking three and fanning two to bring his ERA to 2.61. Matt Chaffee blew up in a third of an inning, allowing three earned runs on three hits and two walks. Ronan Pacheco and Ryan Kelly were solid in relief to finish the game, with Kelly going two strong frames and striking out four.

Rome lost in extras against Greensboro, falling 7-4. The offense pounded 15 hits and five doubles in the contest, including two from Victor Reyes. Victor Caratini, Jake Schrader, and Carlos Franco tallied the other three two-baggers, with Schrader collecting a total of four hits throughout the game. Connor Lien collected another hit in his second game in the Sally League, scoring a couple of runs and striking out twice. Johan Camargo extended his hot streak, pounding a couple of singles and collecting a walk to bring his line to .375/.444/.469 over his past ten games. In fact, Camargo has exactly two hits in his each of his past four games. Yean Carlos Gil pitched five strong innings, allowing one earned run on five hits and two walks, striking out two. Pete Perez and Michael Swanner had scoreless appearances in relief while Colby Holmes and Brady Feigl struggled. Feigl took the loss after allowing three runs in the top of the 12th inning, surrendering six hits and two walks in two and one-third innings of work.
