There could not have been more drama Monday at The Baseball Ground of Jacksonville. With Mobile beating Pensacola earlier in the day all Mississippi needed was a victory to reach the playoffs. It took 11 innings, but a error on Jacksonville SS Chris Gutierrez allowed Dan Brewer to reach and Christian Marrero to score the go-ahead run. Gary Moran locked down the bottom half of the inning sending Mississippi to the Southern League Playoffs. The club finished the regular season with a 76-63 record, the most wins in team history.
Mycal Jones and Tommy La Stella each had three hit days, Jones recording his 17th and 18th doubles of the season. Edward Salcedo added two hits of his own. Starter Mitch Atkins went 4.2 innings surrendering four runs on six hits. He did help himself out though, ripping a double and eventually coming around to score one of the six Mississippi runs.
According to the Mississippi Braves website: "The M-Braves take two days off and travel to Mobile for games one and two of the Southern League South Divisional Series. Thursday and Friday's games are scheduled for 7:05 PM at Hank Aaron Stadium. The Braves return to Trustmark Park for game three Saturday. Tickets go on sale at 9:00 AM Tuesday."

In their regular season finale, Lynchburg rallied late but fell to Salem 4-3. The offense again couldn’t string much together, recording seven hits and a walk. Levi Hyams recorded the only extra-base hit, going two for three. Starter Ryan Weber went six innings, giving up three runs on five hits. The peripherals were there though, finishing with a 8:1 strikeout-to-walk.
According to the Lynchburg website, "The Hillcats will have an off day Tuesday before beginning the 2013 Carolina League Divisional Series with the Potomac Nationals Wednesday night at 7:05pm in Woodbridge, VA. - Matt Chaffee 2IP, 0H, 0ER, 0BB, 0K
- Tyler Brosius: 0.2IP, H, ER, BB, K
Rome and Charleston finished in under two hours Monday in a classic pitchers duel/terrible offensive performance by both teams. Reliever Tyler Brocius issued a walk, hit a batter and gave up a walk-off single in the 9th. Rome was a Jose Peraza hit away from being ‘perfect gamed’ in their season finale. One bright spot was Wes Parsons, who only gave up two hits in six innings with an impressive 6:0 strikeout-to-walk.
