If you don't know by now, the Arizona Fall League started last night. All eight of Atlanta's representatives play for the Scottsdale Scorpions, along with prospects from the Pirates, Giants, Mets, and Yankees. We'll bring you daily recaps of every Scottsdale game, just like we did for the minor leagues during the regular season.

Scottsdale Scorpions 6, Salt River Rafters 5

  • Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 3-4, 2B, RBI, K, .750
  • Tommy La Stella, 2B: 2-4, 2B, BB, .500
  • Robby Hefflinger, LF: 0-5, 4 K, .000
  • Juan Jaime, RP: 1 IP, 1 H, 1 UER, 1 BB, 0 K, 0.00 ERA
4 of Atlanta's 8 players saw action last night with Scottsdale. On the diamond, Tommy LaStella started at second base and hit third, Robby Hefflinger started in left field and hit cleanup, and Kyle Kubitza started at third and hit ninth. Kubitza immediately showed why he should be hitting higher, as he put up a 3-4 day with a double and two singles, one of which scored Scottsdale's first run. His double came in the eighth, and started a 3-run rally by Scottsdale that would end with Tommy LaStella's go-ahead, game-winning RBI double. It was LaStella's third time reaching base on the evening, as he had previously walked and singled as well.

As good as game as LaStella and Kubitza had, Robby Hefflinger had one to forget. Heff took a golden sombrero, striking out 4 times in 5 plate appearances.

Juan Jaime also made an appearance out of the Scottsdale bullpen last night. He was a little wild, allowing a hit and a walk in his one inning of work. His defense also let him down, allowing an unearned run to score.

Aaron Northcraft will start tonight for Scottsdale.
