  • Tommy La Stella, 2B: 1-4, 2B (5), K; .351/.500/.622
  • Robby Hefflinger, LF: 0-3, 2 K; .214/.261/.333
  • Shae Simmons, RHP: 1.0 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 0 K, 9 pitches-5 strikes, 0:1 GO:FO; 5 IP, 2 H, 5 BB, 5 K, 1.80 ERA
Tommy La Stella had one of Scottsdale's three hits, collecting a fourth inning double, his fifth two-bagger for the club. He also collected his first strikeout of the AFL season, bringing his walk-to-strikeout ratio to a measly 11-to-1 in 11 games (is that good?). La Stella was the focus of a recent AFL Notebook from Baseball America. (Hint: the title of the article gives it away.) More of the same from Robby Hefflinger, adding two more strikeouts to his ledger and increasing his total to 18 in 11 games.

Shae Simmons pitched a relatively clean inning for the Scorpions despite a walk, bringing his ERA to 1.80 in 5 innings of work, during which he's allowed only two hits. According to Kevin McAlpin, Simmons will appear in the AFL all-star game Saturday night. The game can be viewed at 8:00pm EST on MLB Network.
