Glendale Desert Dogs 1, Scottsdale Scorpions 2 (F/10)
- Robby Hefflinger, LF: 2-3, HR(1), BB, .273
- Tommy La Stella, 2B: 1-4, BB, .444
- Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 1-4, K, .278
It seems like it's news when Tommy La Stella doesn't headline these recaps, but last night was all about Robby Hefflinger. Heff's been given a ton of starts so far, and is finally getting up to speed after a slow beginning to his AFL campaign. Last night, he hit his first dinger of the fall, a solo shot in the second inning that would be all the offense Scottsdale got until they walked off in the tenth. He also added a single and a walk as well; it was the first time this fall he's reached base thrice in one game.
Tommy La Stella was up to his old tricks, singling and walking in 5 plate appearances. La Stella has walked at least in once in each of the 6 games he has started, and has 10 free passes in 28 plate appearances. He still hasn't struck out yet. That's obviously a small sample, but given the caliber of pitching in the AFL, it's still impressive.
Kyle Kubitza was the only other Brave to appear in last night's contest, as he went 1-4 with a strikeout.
Scottsdale takes on Peoria this afternoon at 12:35 MST.
