Glendale Desert Dogs 5, Scottsdale Scorpions 1

  • Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 0-4, 3 K, .273
  • Elmer Reyes, SS: 0-2, BB, .000
  • Juan Jaime, RP: 0.2 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 1 K, 5.40 ERA
Kyle Kubitza played third and hit fifth for Scottsdale last night and went 0-4 with three strikeouts. Elmer Reyes played short and hit eighth, where he went 0-2 with a walk. Juan Jaime was the only Braves pitcher to make an appearance, and it was not a pretty one. He gave up a home run to the first batter he faced, then walked the bases loaded before striking out Byron Buxton, and getting a force out at home before being lifted. On the plus side, at least he managed to wiggle out of more trouble.
As a side note, Braves hitters will not play every game because of the size of AFL rosters and managers' desires to get everyone into games. So Tommy LaStella and Robby Hefflinger didn't play last night, but will probably play the next game.
Scottsdale (and the rest of the league) is off today and tomorrow. Play will resume on Monday at 6:35 p.m. MST.
