Who's Hot?
-
Freddie Freeman - 13-28, 3 2B, HR, 7 RBI, 2 BB, 2 SB - At this point in the year, we've really run out of things to say about Big Freddie. He's first in the league in hits and total bases, second in average and doubles, third in slugging, OPS, and RBI, fourth in runs, sixth in on base percentage, and tenth in homers. And he won't turn 21 for another couple of weeks. Wow.
-
Joey Terdoslavich - 11-22, 4 2B, 5 RBI - The Braves' 6th round selection in this year's draft, who's back to playing mostly third base at Rome, had himself a week, hitting .500 with a 1.182 OPS. In 62 games between Danville and Rome the 21 year old has hit .318 with a .788 OPS.
-
Willie Kempf - 2-0, 10 IP, 1 ER, 7 H, 3 BB, 6 K - The Braves' 27th round selection in this year's draft has played at three different levels this year, and he's been successful at all of them, topping things off with a 0.90 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in 2 starts for Rome this week.
- Matt Young - 12-26, 3 2B, RBI, 3 BB, 10 R, 4 SB - You couldn't ask for more out of a leadoff hitter than what Young did this week, as he had a .517 on base percentage to go along with his .462 average and 1.094 OPS. He also stole 4 bases and scored 10 times in 7 games.
Special Mention: It's hard to put him on the Hot Sheet since he only had 9 at bats this week, but all 3 of Matt Kennelly's hits this week were solo home runs, giving him a whopping 1.667 OPS for the week.
Honorable Mention: Gwinnett - Brandon Beachy, Wilkin Ramirez; Mississippi - Tyler Pastornicky, Randall Delgado, Erik Cordier, JJ Hoover, Julio Teheran; Rome - Kyle Rose, Christian Bethancourt, Dan Jurik, Steve Kent, Ryan Weber; Danville - Keenan Wiley, Andrelton Simmons, Jakob Dalfonso, Ryan Delgado, Elmer Reyes, Barret Kleinknecht, Edigson Mora
Who's Not?
-
Zeke Spruill - 0-1, 6 IP, 6 ER, 12 H, 1 BB, 5 K - Spruill had some immediate success after returning from a broken hand, but he's hit a rough patch recently, culminating with putting up a 9.00 ERA and a 2.17 WHIP in 1 start this week.
-
LV Ware - 3-21, RBI, BB, 7 K - Ware had been playing well for the Pelicans, helping to ignite their playoff run, but he hit a rough patch this week, hitting just .143 with a lowly .325 OPS. He also struck out in a third of his plate appearances.
-
Jake Hanson - 0-10, 2 BB, 7 K - Hanson didn't play much this week, but he struck out 7 of the 12 times he came to the plate and didn't record a hit. There was some reason to get excited about Hanson after his successful campain in the GCL last season as a 19 year old, but he's struggled mightily for Rome this year, hitting just .213 with a .600 OPS. Since the All-Star break he's hit just .174 with a .532 OPS.
-
David Hale - 1 G, 1.1 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 2 BB, 1 K - Hale was a regular on the Who's Not? side of the Hot Sheet in the early part of the year, but he actually managed to turn his season around pitching in relief. He was particularly effective in July, with a 0.77 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP, but his one appearance this week was just bad, as he put up a 27.07 ERA and a 6.02 WHIP.
Dishonorable Mention: Myrtle Beach - Braeden Schlehuber, Myke Jones; Rome - Robby Hefflinger, Chris Curley, Edward Salcedo, Chris Masters
