Open Thread 7/7: Braves at Phillies

New, 1107 comments

The young Kris Medlen takes on the very old Jamie Moyer in the rubber match of an important three-game set at Citizens Bank Ballpark. Medlen has been one of the Braves best starters since joining the rotation and looks to continue his success against an injured Phillies lineup. Both Derek Lowe and Jair Jurrjens had solid outings, and if Medlen can give the Braves a chance to win, it will speak of how tough their rotation truly is. They will have had three good starts against a division rival without having their best two starters pitch in the series. In Moyer's last outing against the Braves, he threw a complete game shutout and allowed just two hits, but that was before the Braves offense really got going. Both starters have had success as of late. Moyer has a 1.86 ERA and Medlen has a 2.64 over their past four starts. We'll see which pitcher, young or old, can come through and lead their team to a series victory tonight.
