Here is an interesting stat on that crazy hittin' fool, Matt Diaz:
...he has the highest career batting average at .417 (55-for-132) of any player with at least 100 career at-bats vs. the Marlins and his .423 average (30-for-71) is the highest of any player with at least 75 plate appearances at Land Shark Stadium.
Here is what Diaz is done in August:
led the majors (min. 50 ABs) in: batting average (.404), OPS (1.148), on-base pct. (.467) and was sixth in slugging pct. (.681)
He deserves to be the NL Player of the Month for August, wouldn't you say?
Oh, and some guy named Tim Hudson is making his first start since undergoing Tommy John surgery on 8/8/08. I would say that expectations are high for Tim -- we're in the middle of a playoff race after all.
