Braves Minor League Recaps 9/10

New, 1 comment

Each series got tied up Tuesday:

Mississippi 3, Carolina 6

Their homeruns were bigger than our homeruns. Each team connected for two homeruns, but Carolina catcher Brad Davis connected for a grand slam in the fourth to put the M-Braves in the hole. Todd Redmond couldn't miss the bats and that cost him as he gave up all six Mudcat runs through six innings of work. The Braves homeruns were back to back, with Matt Young and Kala Ka'aihue putting their team up 3-zip in the third inning; the only runs the Braves scored the entire game.

  • K. Ka'aihue 1-3, HR, BB
  • M. Young 1-4, HR, 2 RBI
  • J. Schafer 1-4, SB
  • J. Holt 2-4

Potomac 4, Myrtle Beach 6

The Beach got out to an early lead on a Travis Jones 3-run homerun in the second inning. Carlos Rivas started the game and threw six strong innings of shutout ball. The bullpen held the lead despite the wildness of the previously reliable Craig Kimbrel. After giving up just two earned runs in 35.1 innings all season across three levels Kimbrel surrendered three earned runs on two hits while issuing three walks. Nick Fellman came in and restored order and held the lead while Ferdin Tejada closed out the win.

  • C. Rivas 6IP, 3H, 0R, 3BB, 4SO
  • E. Mejia 2-4, HR, 2SO
  • T. Jones 1-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB
  • B. Hicks 0-1, 3BB
