Chipper Jones is an animal! He really does look like he's on a mission this year -- a mission to win a batting title. Along the way he might pick up another 40-plus homer season and an MVP -- but maybe I'm getting ahead of myself. But Chipper has been getting hits in bunches all season, and even though it's early, his line is impressive.

Jeff Bennett was pretty darn good last night. I'm starting to think he likes starting a whole lot better than relieving (and he seems to be better at starting).

I'd kind of like to see Blaine Boyer get a shot at closing before Soriano gets back. He really has some good life on his fastball and he seems to exude confidence on the mound. His ERA doesn't look pretty, but his peripheral numbers are spectacular, the problem has been that just about everyone he's allowed to get on base has scored, but you have to believe that won't last.

So Tom Glavine comes back to Atlanta and gets to go on the disabled list. It seems like it's real minor and he just needs time to get his strength back, so it's probably the best thing to give him time to heal his hammy and get a couple of rehab starts in. And once again we get to see what Chuck James has left (answer = nothing). Again, why aren't we seeing Jo-Jo or Morton -- they're the hot arms down in Richmond. Oh well, at least the Braves didn't have to use Campillo last night, instead they save him for today's game.

(FYI, I should be around during today's game and my mission is to get the NAHWAL results tallied so we'll have an accurate measure of who is competing for the win on Sunday.)
