A Top Prospect List I Missed

New, 1 comment

All I can say is oops....and, why didn't anyone point this out? At any rate, it's not one of the more prestigious lists (actually I've never heard of this site), but the reviewer does a good job of explaining his rankings and telling us what he thinks of each player - pretty good comments. Here is the list from Fantasy Info Central:

  1. Elvis Andrus, ss
  2. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, c
  3. Eric Campbell, 2b/3b
  4. Matt Harrison, lhp
  5. Brandon Jones, of
  6. Joey Devine, rhp
  7. Anthony Lerew, rhp
  8. Jeff Locke, lhp
  9. Chase Fontaine, ss
  10. Yunel Escobar, ss
He does a good job of explaining why Lerew is so far up his list, saying "he has the pitches, just not the control." That reminds me that if Lerew does find consistency and control that he has a good chance of cracking the Atlanta rotation this Spring over Kyle Davies. We may all be anointing Davies as the fifth guy, but Lerew certainly has the stuff to compete with him, and if Davies struggles in the spring and Lerew doesn't, then he could win the final spot.

The other item of interest on this list is the number of shortstops listed. Not only is Elvis listed first because "everything about him is potential based," but Chase Fontaine and Yunel Escobar round out the list at nine and ten. We've seen several lists that put Elvis at the top, but I think is still too early to rank him that high.

Hat tip to Baby Braves for finding this list.
