As reported by Baseball Digest Daily:
Earlier today I had said that the Braves need to emerge from the Winter Meetings with something to show, but when I said "something to show" perhaps I should have been a bit more specific and said "something super-star-stantial" to show, not Tanyon Sturtze. At any rate, he won't be ready for the start of spring training after undergoing rotator cuff surgery last May, but he could be the first person called to replace the weak link of the 2007 bullpen in May or June.
Really though, he's only had one "good" year in the Majors and that was in 2000 when he sported a 2.56 ERA for Tampa Bay. Beyond that he has had the dubious honor of losing 18 games in a season, in 2002. For some reason I had thought that he was a closer for Tampa at some point, but his stats don't show that he was anything other than a middle reliever swing guy (and don't we already have our fill of those?). Odds are he'll be a big maybe in the bullpen, and those undisclosed terms are all probably incentives if he makes the club.
John Schuerholz, you're going to have to make more noise than this.
His Major League stats are here.
