Pitchers and Catchers Report to Camp on February 16

Ahhhhh, yes! Can you smell the freshly cut grass? Hear the hot dog vendors? Beer anyone?

In an official release today, the Braves announced their 2006 Spring Training schedule...

ATLANTA - The Atlanta Braves released their 2006 spring training schedule today. The 34-game slate begins with an exhibition against the University of Georgia on Wednesday, March 1, at Disney's Wide World of Sports in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. The Braves will open the regular portion of their spring season against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Vero Beach on Thursday, March 2. The Braves' first home game will be against the Dodgers on Friday, March 3.

        This spring marks the ninth year that the Braves will train at Cracker Jack Stadium in the Disney complex, recently ranked as the one of the best spring training facilities in the country by Baseball America.

        Atlanta will have a total of 17 home games at Cracker Jack Stadium in March and will play two games versus the World Champion Chicago White Sox at Turner Field on March 31 and April 1. The Braves will play two home games against the Astros, Cardinals, Dodgers, Indians and Mets. Other clubs scheduled to make a visit to Cracker Jack Stadium include the Yankees, Nationals, Phillies, Reds and Tigers. In addition, the Braves will play an exhibition on March 5 against the Netherlands National Team, which Andruw Jones will play for in the inaugural World Baseball Classic. The Florida portion of the schedule includes three night games, on Tuesday, March 14 versus Houston, on Friday, March 24 against Washington and on Monday, March 27 against the New York Yankees.

        Braves' pitchers and catchers are scheduled to report to camp on Thursday, February 16, with the first workout set for the following day. The rest of the Braves players are scheduled to report on Tuesday, February 21, with the first full-squad workout slated for February 22.
