Yours truly met Yunel Escobar over the weekend

As some of you know, our young SS Yunel Escobar lives here in Miami. What you didn't know is that yours truly plays in a pretty competitive league down here (same league where Yankees RP Edwar Ramirez played a year ago) and our guest of honor this weekend was the not-so-little Yunel. I say "not-so-little" because on TV he seems kind of short and scrappy .. but seeing him in person is totally different. He's about 6'2" and is pretty muscular. (I'm 5'9" and weigh 175 so he kind of dwarfed me)

Anyway, it was pretty exciting to see him. I didn't really get to talk to him other than congratulating him on his rookie season. It was kind of a rush to get to meet him. He was surrounded by people at all times and tons of people were snapping pictures with their phones. Being a cheap bastard didn't work out for me since my phone has no camera but here's the link: http://journals.aol.com/lesteraviles/LIGALATINA/
(they butcher his name a couple of times)

I'm mentioned down near the bottom of the page from one of our previous games. Here's my 15 seconds of fame (if I didn't already use them up with the Free Salty sign):

"Danny Ojst bateó de 3-3 con jonron y 4 carreras remolcadas"

basically it was my one good game in a while. I was 3 for 3 with a HR and 4RBIs. I'm not going to the big leagues anytime soon so don't go getting your hopes up my fellow talkingchoppers.

Mark Redman announced as Game 4 starter for COL (if necessary)

it's the bottom of the 9th in game 3 but just the thought of the Plug pitching game 4 in the playoffs is the best joke I've heard all year long. hahaha. C'mon Corpas. End this right now or else the entire nation will laugh their butts off in Game 4. Man I hate Redman. blaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Fun little ditty we can all do

well, then again... I don't know how much FUN it'll be but I have an interesting thing we can do.

The Braves will finish around 4 or 5 games out of first place in the NL EAST. What I propose is that however many games out the Braves are at the end of the season we pick the games that REALLY stick out that we should've won. So 5 games out means we come up with 5 specific games that us Braves fans knew would come back to haunt us.

For example, I would certainly include that one game against the Marlins where Hudson had a shutout into the 9th and things took a turn for the worse. Another one would be the same exact situation.. except when it happened in Minnesota. So start mentioning "memorable" games from this season to see which ones make the cut so we can wallow in self-pity.

4.5 games back and I don't Te-care-a

Braves still have a shot here. Here's hoping that the Teixeira song being played live at Turner Field tonight brings the team some new found motivation and a little pop in their bats.

Technically the Braves are still in it until the last week of the season but can anyone really picture the Braves making the playoffs without taking 5 of 6 from the Mets and Phillies in this current homestand?

Davies pitches 6 2/3 scoreless innings

hahaha! Evil Davies gave up #500 to A-Rod ... then Good Davies comes around and shuts out the Twins.

baaahahaha. I bet next start he gives up 6 runs in 2 innings before you can say Dan Quisenberry quizzed the quintessential quintuplets.

anyhoo, I'm still kind of pulling for him and Tony Peña as well. hope those kids turn out alright.
