"This was a very difficult move to make, and we appreciate all of the work that Ned has done to develop this team into a contender," GM Doug Melvin said. "In the end, this was a collaborative decision made to put our Club in the best position for the final two weeks of the season."

Need TC'ers Help
This Saturday I'll be headed to Seattle to see them take on the Yankees on Sunday. At SafeCo they have a place to have your jersey personalized, it takes about an inning and a half to get it done. Last time I was there I had my M's jersey personalized so this time I'm taking my Braves road greys.
This is where you guys come in, I need help in figuring out what to put on the back of said jersey.
And comments are welcome to write in your vote if you don't like the choices given. This will help point me in the right direction.

Don't expect Schafer and company in September
As I reported over at Rain Delay, According to DOB at the AJC don't expect Jordan Schafer, Kris Medlen or Tommy Hanson to be called up come September.
He said the reasoning was two-fold: 1. The Braves want to monitor innings on those guys, including Medlen, who’s starting on a regular basis for the first time since high school, and 2. “roster management.”
In other words, to add any of them, including Schafer, to the 40-man roster now would require the Braves take someone off and possibly lose them in the Rule 5 Draft. So don’t expect to see Schafer or the hot young pitchers in September. Sorry to break the news to you, folks.
Schafer will play winter ball in Mexico, then come to spring training to compete for the CF job….
I personally agree with Wren and the FO on this.

Pelicans clinch first half title!
Congrats to Rocket Wheeler and the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, as they've clinched a first half title in the Southern Division of the Carolina League. Rocket Wheeler was not in attendance (he was attending his daughters graduation) last night when the Pelicans clinched the title with a 8-5 victory over the Kinston Indians.
This will be Myrtle Beach's first post season appearance since 2002. This was the longest drought between play-off appearances in the Carolina League. This also ended Kinston's four year run at the top of the Southern Division.
Quoth the Rocket (Wheeler):
"It's a great feeling," Wheeler said via telephone. "I'm at my daughter's graduation, so I missed the game, but I've got a great coaching staff. Most of all, I want to thank these kids because these kids don't quit."
Wheeler gave a lot of props to his pitching staff who, leads the Carolina League in ERA (3.02) and Strike Outs (488). And lets not forgot they lost both Tommy Hanson and Kevin Gunderson to Double A Mississippi.

Is it just me?
I'm just wondering maybe it's just me, but I think we have the worst beat writers in the Majors. DOB has begun to completely disappoint. And don't get me started on Mark Bowman - he's far worse than DOB could ever think about being. Or am I just a tad cranky?
Go take a look at Bowman's latest "Mail Bag" on braves.com. I addressed one of those questions over at rain-delay.
