Could these games get any more exciting...I think not. Is it too early to label this year's team "the cardiac kids?" We need a game where we have a comfortable lead the entire game, so we can sit back and relax - but let's save the bashing until the Mets come to town this weekend.

Don't forget to get your picks in before the game for Nok-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta (click here to learn how to play); the three categories are (1) Attendance, (2) Pick to Click, and (3) Above and Beyond Pick.

Here are yesterday's results:

Box Score >>

Atlanta 3, Philadelphia 2 at Citizens Bank Park
Atlanta Record: (2-0)
Philadelphia Record: (0-2)

Winning pitcher - Macay McBride (1-0)
Losing pitcher - Ryan Madson (0-2)
SV - Bob Wickman (1)

Where are the fans?
  1.  33,111 tix sold, but only 1000 show up beacuse Philly fans are already frustrated with the team!
  2.  Andruw, 'cause he's do
  3.  Pat Burrell actually breaks down in left field, crying from the onslaught of booing from the City of Brotherly Love, costing the Phillies the game by booting Andruw's line drive and letting Renteria and Chipper score the game winners.
On a side note, I was at the game last night in Philly.  It may only be the first series of the year, but the cold weather and raucous Philly fans chanting M-V-P every time Howard came to the plate made it feel like the division was on the line last night.  Interestingly, as soon as Flash Gordon came in to pitch the ninth, there was a palpable nervousness from EVERYONE (save us few Braves fans).  There is a lot pressure for Philly to avoid their typical slow start.  After Wickman finished them off in the 11th for the win, our walk to the parking lot felt like a pissed off funeral procession.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot.  Last night was college night/dollar dog night.  What does that equal?  Apparently a lot of underage drinking arrests and a crowd of 20 year olds using my car as a urinal and dry humping station.  Beautiful game, nonetheless.

What's cool about this is that one of these days, one of us is going to get lucky and nail a prediction or two.  That will be cool, and I hope it's me!

NAHWAL results for game 3
Today's attendance was 30,062, and Stephen gets the point for being the closest at 30,279.

After Chuck James it was tough to choose the other picks to clicks. I'm choosing Renteria because of his three hits and no one else. There were some other mildly deserving folks, like McCann who got the scoring started, Johnson who broke it open, or Soriano who got us out of a pretty scary situation in the ninth. But one point a piece will only go to the folks who had Chuck or Edgar. These folks receive a point for picking them: mccannfan, yondaime4, and BarryFreakinBonds.

It looks like we have our first two winners in the Above and Beyond category. Because the Braves scored in the first and didn't (quite) give the lead back all day, jjschiller gets one point, and even more amazing and precise, yondaime4 will get two points for saying accurately that Francoeur would get a hit to the off field in the fifth inning. Good job you two!

I wonder if Macay McBride will have to walk home from Philly as punishment for his ninth inning meltdown.

I'm a winner!
