Open Thread and Noc-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta: Braves at Mets (4/20)

 Today's Starting Pitchers

 T. Hudson
Braves
vs.
 M. Pelfrey
Mets
2-0 W-L 0-0
0.86 ERA 3.18
16 SO 2
9 BB 4
1 HR 0
vs.
Mets
-- vs.
Braves

Game Time: 7:10pm on

That wasn't the Mark Redman we expected to see, but the result was certainly expected. The Braves once again couldn't make anything happen against solid pitching. We can cream bad pitching and mistakes, but we can't do anything against good pitchers. Somehow we have to find a way to manufacture runs instead of sitting back and either swinging for the fences or striking out.

Huddy gets us going for a three game series in New York against the Mets. We have our top three starters going, so I for one am hoping for good things from this weekend. It would also be nice to get this 10-day road trip off to a good start.

Don't forget to get your picks in before the game for Nok-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta (click here to learn how to play and to view the leaderboard); the three categories are (1) Attendance, (2) Pick to Click, and (3) Above and Beyond Pick.

Box Score >>

Chi. Cubs 3, Atlanta 0 at Turner Field
Chi. Cubs Record: (6-9)
Atlanta Record: (10-5)

Winning pitcher - Rich Hill (3-0)
Losing pitcher - Mark Redman (0-3)
SV - Ryan Dempster (3)

Q&A
I did a Q&A with MetsBlog, you can read it here.

by gondeee on Apr 20, 2007 2:03 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

They sure do hate us!
It is amazing that the only response the Mets "fans" have to your Q&A is how much they hate the Braves and us as fans.  It is nice to know that we are in their heads.

It must really stink to not even be the most popular team in your own city.

Go Braves!

by gramsey712 on Apr 20, 2007 2:10 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Wow...
And they call us Cocky?

You win the division ONCE IN 15 YEARS, and I guess you get to be Cocky? Is that how it works?

Good lord.

Ugh..

andruw jones
What is the likelihood that the braves will trade Andruw Jones before long, how long will they wait, I don't think they can resign him.
Comments?

by los angeles braves fan on Apr 20, 2007 1:44 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

no trade
He's a 10-5 player, and won't accept any trade.

I think there's about a 3% chance he gets traded, and it'll only happen if he's having a sub-par season and the Braves are out of playoff contention.  Neither of which I think are very likely.

I Wonder...
why do people have one guy listed as the player of the game and then another having a great game as their specific guess?  I guess I understand the idea of diversifying your picks, but it doesn't make sense in reality.  Anyway, here are my picks:
  1.  42,652
  2.  Chipper Jones
  3.  The 'pen holds a two run lead in the 2.2 IP after Huddy is forced out with the potential game-tying run on 2nd.

by ejruiz on Apr 20, 2007 3:57 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It doesn't make sense...
...and then he goes and does it.

Would it make sense to play the lottery with two tickets with the same numbers?

Someone tell me how...
Diaz versus a righty is any worse than Langerhans against anyone?  Why can't we just plug him in in the 7th or 8th for defense if we need him?
