Open Thread and Noc-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta: Nationals at Braves (4/10)

 Today's Starting Pitchers

 T. Hudson
Braves
vs.
 M. Chico
Nationals
0-0 W-L 0-0
1.29 ERA 13.50
5 SO 3
4 BB 0
1 HR 3
vs.
Nationals
-- vs.
Braves
And so the second season without Mike Hampton now officially begins, and that means today's starter Tim Hudson is most assuredly the second man in our rotation. It also means that Mark Redman is most likely here to stay - I don't know how to feel about that yet.

And so we begin the first of five games in eight days against the Washington Nationals - the one and six Washington Nationals. But let us take nothing for granted; any team can beat any other team on any given day. That said we should be beating the Nationals. If we are to have any chance at the division or the wild card then these cellar dwelling teams like that Nats need to be beaten regularly.

And so what I'm hoping for from this series and the next against the Marlins is that our bats will find life. Yes we are solid in the homerun department and the clutch hitting department, but I'd like to see our guys collectively raise their average and get a bit more consistent at the plate. And nothing helps to straighten out the average like seeing triple-A pitching at the major league level.

Don't forget to get your picks in before the game for Nok-A-Homa-Win-A-Lotta (click here to learn how to play); the three categories are (1) Attendance, (2) Pick to Click, and (3) Above and Beyond Pick.

Well...
...if it's close to me, I could always just not give them the point(s). Hopefully people will have good form - they have so far. Actually, I'm surprised it's taken this long for this subject to come up. It was a concern of mine from the beginning, but I figured most people would be cool enough not to abuse it.

NAHWAL results for game 7
Attendance was 18,396, and gramsey712 won it with 18,500, and is probably glad he didn't do the "Price is Right" maneuver.

Picks to click were Hudson, Francoeur, and Andruw. Points go to gondeee, rabies, torchy, Phillip, SJsftb27, secondbass, and jenkins.

A very nice above and beyond pick by JerBall who accurately predicted that Hudson would give up less runs than the amount of homers the Braves hit. And an even nicer pick by jenkins who accurately said that Andruw would go yard in the 4th. One point to JerBall, two points to jenkins.
