Final 2008 Top-25 Braves Prospects
Since I am not the authority on Braves prospects by any means I asked the rest of the Talking Chop community to give me their ranking of the top-25 Braves prospects for 2008. Nine people responded with excellent prospect lists of their own. In total, 46 different Braves prospects were listed across all the lists, and 10 prospects were listed on every list. By combining all the lists and averaging where each prospect was ranked we can get a more accurate account of what the Braves fan base thinks about each of the players in our farm system. Here is the complete list in wonderful Excel screen-print fashion.
If you would like to see last year's list, click here. Only two members of last year's top-10 are in the top-10 this year. Three of last year's top-10 are no longer with the organization (all because of the Teixeira trade). This year's number one prospect, Jared Schafer, ranked number 32 on the list last year.
The top-10 were the same top-10 that I originally had in my list, just not in the same order. Only four of the top-25 has major league experience. We'll obviously get a better idea of how well our thinking is when the major prospect outlets come out with their rankings over the next several months, but I think we did a damn fine job of ranking folks appropriately.

Damn Fine Job Indeed
I initially intended on posting a list of my own, but frankly, I'm just not knowledgable enough about our minors to compile anything worthwhile. I do know that I am excited about Jordan Schafer eventually replacing Andruw Jones as our centerfielder for years to come, even if that doesn't happen until 2009. I also know that the Braves system is once again loaded with premium pitching prospects at all levels, and we have an abundance of middle infielders who will most likely serve as trade bait.
Regardless, the bottomline is our Braves have plenty of talent in their minor leagues, which in turn gives hope to all us fans for the present and future. Here's to a successful reign as general manager for Frank Wren which translates into more division titles and another World Series championship. Watching the Red Sox win makes me yearn for the Braves to bring the World Series back to Atlanta even more!
