Recap: Arizona vs. San Francisco

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Adam Dunn's RBI single in the eighth inning capped a pitching duel between the young and old, as Arizona kept its footing in the NL West race with a 3-2 victory over San Francisco.
Dunn singled home Conor Jackson, who manufactured his own run with a two-out single and a stolen base in front of Dunn's base hit. Juan Cruz (3-0), despite giving up one run in one frame, picked up the victory behind Randy Johnson, who frustrated Giants hitters to the tune of one run and eight hits over seven frames.
Tim Lincecum (17-4) was a rock once again on the mound for San Francisco, giving up three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in a complete game. Bengie Molina homered and Pablo Sandoval drove home the other Giant run. The Giants have lost five of eight overall.
The Diamondbacks completed a four-game sweep and remained 3 1/2 games behind the Dodgers in the division race. Los Angeles slipped past Pittsburgh, 4-3, in 12 innings on Thursday.
Chad Qualls pitched a flawless ninth frame to record his fifth save of the season.
San Francisco loaded the bases with nobody out in the first, but scratched just one run across. Randy Winn and Ivan Ochoa each singled before Rich Aurilia walked to load the bases.
Sandoval's sacrifice fly put the Giants in front.
Arizona clawed across the tying and go-ahead runs in the sixth. Stephen Drew doubled and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt. Jackson was plunked with a pitch and Justin Upton hit a two-out, two-run triple over the head of Eugenio Velez in left.
The Giants tied the game on Molina's homer in the top of the eighth before the Diamondbacks re-gained control in the home portion of the inning.
Arizona took the season series from San Francisco, 11-7...Lincecum had been unbeaten over his previous 10 starts and lost for the first time to Arizona...Upton's triple was his fifth of the season...Attendance 34,323.
