Mariners' Suzuki reaches 200 hits for eighth straight year

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Seattle Mariners star Ichiro Suzuki led off the top of the eighth inning in the team's game with the Kansas City Royals with an infield single off Gil Meche.

The hit was Suzuki's 200th of the season marking the eighth consecutive year he has reached the plateau, tying the major league record held by Willie Keeler (1894-01).

Suzuki broke the AL record he shared with Wade Boggs (1983-89).
