Pirates shortstop Wilson likely finished for season

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh shortstop Jack Wilson will likely miss the remainder of the season after a second X-ray on a sprained right index finger revealed a hairline fracture near the tip of the finger.
Doctors advised Wilson to cut out fielding or throwing for the next six weeks. The initial injury occurred on August 31 when Wilson fielded a ground ball on a sudden hop and jammed his finger. The initial X-rays didn't show the fracture.
Wilson still holds out hope he could pinch-hit or pinch-run before the regular season ends. The shortstop had never spent time on the DL prior to this season, but a strained left calf immediately put him on the injury list three games into this campaign.
The shortstop is batting .274 with one home run and 22 runs batted in this season.
