Nats' Hill to have surgery on right elbow
Sports Network | August 29, 2008
Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Washington Nationals pitcher Shawn Hill, already shelved for the rest of the season due to swelling in his right elbow, will need arthroscopic surgery after visiting with Dr. James Andrews on Friday. The famed surgeon found calcium buildup in the back of Hill's elbow and will perform the surgery at an undetermined time. Hill will also have his right forearm examined before going under the knife. The right-hander missed the entire 2005 campaign while recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery. Hill had a record of 1-5 with a 5.83 earned run average in 12 starts this season for the Nationals, who are mired in last place in the NL East.
