Two Major League sources have confirmed that Mike Gonzalez has chosen Scott Boras to now serve as his agent. The left-handed reliever had previously been represented by Dan Lozano of the Beverly Hills Sports Council.

Frank Wren and agent Scott Boras are on better terms than Boras and John Schuerholz were, so the relationship should no longer be a hurdle, but the $$$ that Gonzo will now cost might be. I wonder if this will affect whether or not the Braves will offer him arbitration.

Buddy goes to Japan
This is probably a good move by Carlyle. He would likely only have gotten a minor league deal with a team in the states. It's also possible that he wanted to go back to starting and this was a means to an end.

Hmmm...if he's healthy, I wouldn't be opposed to him. However, Willingham is a horrible in the field and often looks like a goofball when running down fly balls. I guess he can actually run tho...unlike GA and his professional gliding.

Braves GM Frank Wren said they would look to field offers on a couple of their starting pitchers. That includes Derek Lowe, who could draw interest from the Yankees as an alternative to John Lackey. "We're in a position where people know we have an excess in starting pitching," Wren said. He said they could go use one of their starters in another role but that that's "unlikely." The Braves are looking for offense, and a corner outfielder with power would fit them.

The Yankees would be an interesting trade partner, though I would see that as more of a salary dump on our part if we sent Lowe there. The more I think about the complications of getting rid of Lowe and acquiring a bat via trade, the more I think it almost has to be some sort of three-team deal.
