<title>John Smoltz goes for 3,000 strikeouts this Tuesday!

GOING FOR 3,000: Smoltz fanned 10 Marlins Thursday, his 44th career game of 10 or more strikeouts, and is now just four strikeouts from becoming the 16th pitcher in baseball history with 3,000 career strikeouts...Smoltz will reach the mark in fewer innings pitched than all but Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Nolan Ryan, Curt Schilling and Roger Clemens.

RARE CLUB: There are fewer pitchers with 3,000 Ks than with 300 wins (23), 500 home runs (23) and 3,000 hits (27)...Only four active pitchers have more strikeouts than Smoltz: Johnson, Greg Maddux, Schilling and Martinez.

Tom Glavine's strained right hamstring has landed the Braves pitcher on the disabled list for the first time in his 22-year major-league career.

Chuck James has been recalled from Class AAA Richmond to start in place of Glavine in Saturday's nationally televised game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Turner Field.

<title>Today's afternoon game against the Rockies has been canceled due to snow (see black and white picture). The game was rescheduled to June 16th, which was previously an off day. It's a good rescheduling for us since we'll be on our way from Anaheim to Texas, and Denver is pretty much on the way.</title>

<title>Yessssss!!!!!! The Braves signed minor league free agent catcher Sal Fasano and added him to Richmond's roster.

Isn't this the second time we've signed Fasano to a minor league deal? Nonetheless, I'm psyched! Look out Corky!</title>

<title>I would totally make fun of this turn of events, but I am well aware that Smoltz is "currently" on the DL and Hampton is a sneeze away. By the way, I so thought that Hampton was going to sprain his hand or something when he was high-fiving the team during player introductions on opening day.</title>

Tonight Atlanta Braves players and coaches will take to the field wearing new alternate navy blue jerseys and all-navy caps. The new uniform style, which is being seen for the first time publicly, will be used for periodic road games in 2008.

The jersey - the first change to the Braves' road uniform since 1987 - is navy blue with a script "Atlanta" across the chest. The names on the back are white, while the uniform number is navy blue with white trim. The cap is reminiscent of that worn by the Braves in the 1960s and is navy with a simple white "A."

When the game started, Ethier took center field, with center fielder Andruw Jones moving behind second base to form a five-man infield. And not just for show: Jones covered second base when Martin threw out Jacoby Ellsbury trying to steal -- that's 2-8 in your scorebook.
