Thoughts from Olney and everybody's favorite JM

Olney's chat: chris (orlando) Buster, Is Chipper's bad season from being in an offensive poor lineup or is it a sign that he's toward the end of his career? Thanks
Buster Olney (1:02 PM) Chris -- I don't think it's because of the lineup; Brian McCann and Yunel Escobar have hit around him and both guys have had excellent seasons. I wonder if it's all the dings and dents the guy plays with and through, and he's older. If you were to grade the moves the Braves have made in the last 10 months, they've done pretty damn well, but I wonder if that contract extension for Chipper might not pay off in a way that they expected. We'll see. Mookie (Great Neck) What are the odds that Jason Heyward will be Atlanta's starting right fielder at the start of the 2010 season?
Buster Olney (1:25 PM)
Mookie: My guess is that because Atlanta hasn't summoned Heyward for this September, this is a signal that he'll be a late May/early June call-up next year, after he slides out of the Super 2 arbitration class. Their handling of him is almost identical to that of Hanson last year, and this was Hanson's timetable... and (ugh) JM''s chat: Ian (Hoboken, NJ) Joe...who do you think is the best 3rd baseman of all time?
Joe Morgan (11:18 AM) Very, very difficult question. I can only speak of my era, since I've been watching the game, say from 1950 until now. I would probably have to go with Mike Schmidt as having the most talent. Defense, hitting the ball out of the park, running the bases. I'd probably have to say Mike Schmidt. But obviously, there have been a lot of good ones. Brooks Robinson, George Brett. There have been a lot of really good third basemen that I've seen play. ted (ny) will the braves sneak up and take the wild card?
Joe Morgan (11:29 AM) No. I say the Giants. The Braves, there is just something missing there. They have some good pitchers, but even the ones that are good are not dominant pitchers. Vasquez, strikes out a lot of guys, but he doesn't dominant the other team's offense. Jurrjens is a really good pitcher but he's still young and we don't know what he's going to do in September. Same for Hanson. Lowe, we know what he's about, but there's just something missing for me to say the Braves will leap frog two other teams.

alright, so Olney likes FW's moves, cool; and thinks Heyward is on the same clock as Hanson was. As long as Chipper doesn't complain, I am fine with that. As for JM- not even mentioning Chipper in a best 3B question. I know he probably won't win, but come on.... And saying we don't have dominant pitchers- you know what, there's nothing I can even say to that

Brooks Conrad Scouting Report?

Can someone summarize the scouting on this guy? Its only been 3-4 games or so, but I agree with Bobby in that I like what I'm seeing from him.
