John Danks, once among the better pitchers in baseball, appears to be headed for free agency.
After signing with the Braves this past offseason, Danks was always a longshot to make the major league club either in the bullpen or the rotation. While Danks certainly had the ability to pitch well at points during his career, injuries derailed his career and he came in to the spring battling for any kind of a job.
Unfortunately, after a poor showing in Spring Training for the Braves, it appears as though the Braves are moving on.

Danks has struggled mightily this spring on a number of levels and the report from MLBTR indicates that Danks asked for his release and will be granted his wish. At this point in his career, it looks like Danks has no interest in carving out a role in the minor leagues and will look to catch on with another club.
