Gordon Beckham began a rehab assignment on Monday and could be back in the Braves lineup soon. Beckham played third base and went 0 for 3 for the Gulf Coast League Braves in Monday's 8-7 win.
Beckham was placed on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain back on June 2. He suffered the injury while running out a ground ball. This is the second hamstring injury Beckham has endured this season. He was placed on the disabled list in mid April and missed 16 games with a similar injury.
When he has been in the lineup, Beckham has been a pleasant surprise for the Braves. He's hit .284 with two home runs and 16 RBIs in 31 games so far this season.
Braves manager Brian Snitker told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution's Michael Cunningham on Monday that Beckham could be back in about a week if his rehab assignment goes well.
