Braves next Catcher

The Braves have a gaping hole at the Catcher position with no future help any time soon. Willians Astudillo is not the answer. Neither is Matt Wieters who is the only available catcher of significance next year. With supply being low and demand being high I think he gets 4 years 60 Million. Plus, he is a righty and we already have a right handed catcher signed for the next 2 years. Braves fans want Lucroy (also a righty) and that would be great but I can't imagine the Brewers not asking for Swanson or Albies and a big time pitching prospect. Is that worth only 2 years of Lucroy?

What if there was a lefty available that averages 20+ Homers and a 2.5 WAR over the last 3 years? I think most Braves fans would jump at that. What if you could get him for less prospects than Lucroy and he's locked up longer, although for more money. What if he was already a Braves fan favorite. I think some know who I'm thinking about by now. Why don't the braves trade for Brian McCann?

The Yankees just brought up Gary Sanchez who every Braves fan has been coveting for years. Guess what kind of prospect teams never trade away? Young catchers. It just doesn't happen. But wouldn't that make McCann more available? I know what you're thinking. McCann makes 17 Million a year!!!. That is true, but wouldn't the Yankees pitch in 5 Million per year for a good pitching prospect? They are in desperate need for young pitching and we have plenty. And the Braves have the money anyway. We have freed up 50 million for what? The worst free agent class in 20 years. We won't spend money on anyone this off season simply because there is no one to buy. So let's trade for our need. Brian McCann plus 15 million of the roughly 45 million he is owed for a package of either Tyrell Jenkins, Lucas Simms, or even Aaron Blair and a low level pitching prospect of Touissant or Ricardo Sanchez. It fixes the catcher problem for the next 2 years, we get a great team guy, a Braves fan favorite (we can wear those McCann jerseys that have been in the closet since '14), and the Braves probably sell a lot more tickets for Suntrust Park. Quick, someone get me Coppy's number although it would surprise me if the he hasn't at least considered this already.
