The Mets just had an eight-game winning streak snapped on Sunday, and will try to start a new one against the visiting Braves, who will conclude an eight-day road trip in New York.
The struggles of Bud Norris have forced the Braves to call on Mike Foltynewicz, who owns a 2.05 ERA in four starts at Gwinnett this year; he has, however, issued 14 walks in 22 innings. Folty has made just one other start against the Mets: June 14, 2015 in which he allowed six runs in 4.1 innings.
The Mets will counter with Bartolo Colon, who allowed three runs in five innings against the Reds last Tuesday. The 42-year-old Colon was undefeated in five starts against the Braves in 2015 (4-0, 3.66 ERA), and is 8-2 with a 2.69 ERA in 11 starts overall against them.
The Mets owe their eight-game winning streak in large part to Michael Conforto, who hit .484 (15-31) with six doubles, two homers and 10 RBI during the streak. He was held hitless with three strikeouts against the Giants on Sunday. He's hitting .381 against RHP so far in 2016. As a whole, the Mets hit .285 with 12 home runs during their winning streak.
The Braves have lost 14 of 20 to the Mets, and were 3-6 at Citi Field in 2015.
