Mike Foltynewicz picked up his very first win at Gwinnett! He also looked pretty good, except for his one mistake by allowing a solo homer in the 5th inning. In his last three games (all are from his return from ATL), he has allowed at least one home run in each of those starts. He also pitched his highest amount of of pitches with 116. He has thrown over 100 pitches 3 times this season. Kanekoa Texeira went two scoreless innings and picked up his first save of the season. Adonis Garcia was the only person to provide offense with a two run blast in the 4th inning. Cedric Hunter and Todd Cunningham were the only other players to pick up a base knock. The Braves struck out five times and walked just once.

Matt Lipka and Rio Ruiz both had three hits games with Lipka connecting with two extra base hits. The 2-4 hitters for Mississippi had 6 hits with 3 doubles, triple, 2 RBIs, and just one K. Ruiz has turned his long slump around as he has improved his BA from .185 to .224 from June 6. In June, he has batted a cool .310. KD Kang roped a triple in the third inning with Kevin Ahrens grounding out to follow to end the inning. Since being called up from Carolina, Sean Godfrey has stumbled a little by not picking up a hit in 4 of his 5 games. Jason Hursh started the game and went 4 innings with just 71 pitches. He allowed five hits and two runs. He walked two and struck out four in his outing. Hursh hasn't picked up a win since earlier this month.

The Carolina offense was limited as they only picked up six hits in the game with two runs. The first and last run came in the first and last innings. Keith Curcio scored the first run by getting HBP. He moved to third by stealing second and moving to third on a ground out. He later scored thanks to a throwing error. The last run scored by back-to-back-to-back singles. Jose Briceno led the trio off with Johan Camargo bringing him in with 2 outs. Max Povse started his first game since being called up from Rome. Let's just say he didn't do well. He allowed 9 hits (most this season) with 6 runs (tied for most this season) while walking just one in four innings. Mauricio Cabrera allowed the sixth run to score in the 5th inning. Britt Robertshaw offered some solid pitching with two innings without a run or hit with 2 Ks.

The three top of the lineup hitters for Rome had five hits in the game in 12 ABs, but they could not score one another in the game as run gets shut out. Rome has fallen to nine games under .500. Ozhaino Albies picked up two singles and has extended his hitting streak to 12 games. In those 12 games, 8 of those he has a multi-hit game and while scoring 8 times. Omar Obregon matched Albies with two singles and has also extended his hitting streak as well. Obregon now rides a 5 game hitting streak with three being multi-hit games. All of the Braves hits came from the top three hitters. Oriel L Caicedo started the game and went five innings. He allowed four runs with only one run being earned. The 7 and 8 hitters for Danville crushed the ball as they corralled half of the team's hits. Ray-Patrick Didder and Trey Keegan were those batters. Didder had two triples in the game with two RBIs and two runs. Keegan had a perfect 3-3 game with a double and two singles. He plated one run and scored once. Leudys Baez had a base knock with a RBI, and four other teammates connected for the other hits. Josh Graham started the game and was the most impressive pitcher in in the game for either team. He did not allow a hit or run with a walk and three strike outs. For his second game this season, he has gone 5 innings with 2 hits, one unearned run, a walk, and six strikeouts. After today's loss, the Braves are on a three game skid.
