The ole friend of the Gwinnett Braves, Steven Lerud, took advantage of the Braves pitching, as he now plays for Syracuse. He scored all four runs for the Chiefs by going 3-4 with a 2 run homer in the seventh while connecting with a pair of RBI singles in the second and ninth. Gwinnett scored their only run of the game in the last inning off an Adonis Garcia RBI ground out. Greg Smith tossed a good game for the Braves as he went seven innings but just let two mistake pitches get away for Lerud take advantage of. Otherwise, Smith allowed six hits and walked one while striking out five. Cedric Hunter knocked a single and a double, ninth double of the season. Jose Peraza also contributed two base hits as he now rides a six game hit streak. Peraza has gone 9-25 (.360) in the past six games.

The Mississippi Braves gathered a rally in the bottom of the ninth, but Matt Lipka grounded into a double play to end the rally. For the Braves, the ninth started by a Chris O'Dowd single to short. David Rohm then dropped a sacrifice bunt to move O'Dowd to second. Eric Garcia later walked to have runners on first and second. Sadly, Lipka grounded to his old teammate, Brandon Drury, to end the game with a 463 DP. Eric Garcia led the Braves by connecting with two singles and a walk. KD Kang came in the clutch by starting the two run fourth inning for Mississippi. He drove in Kevin Ahrens with a triple to right field. Next, O'Dowd drove in Kang on a sac fly. Andrew Robinson tossed a solid two innings of relief by allowing just two hits with no runs to score. He did not walk any and struck out two.
Carolina Mudcats vs Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Postponed to a later date. The Mudcats will face the Pelicans at home in Zebulon as Yean Carlos Gil looks to pick up his first victory of the season. Gil is 0-5 with a 3.27 ERA. His best outing came from his last start as he went 7 innings with just a run on five hits. He did not walk anyone and struck out six against the Salem Red Sox.

The Rome Braves and the Asheville Tourists dealt a pitching duel as Caleb Beech took to the mound for the Braves. He went 6 innings with just four hits and one run. His walk to strikeout ratio was a little high being 1:1, but he was effective by getting ground outs as he had 11 groundouts to only 3 flyouts. Carlos Salazar come in for 1.1 innings of relief but allowed a run in his work, but Zach Quintana stopped the bleeding by picking up his second save of the season. Quintana went 1.2 innings without a hit or walk, and he struck out three. Bryan De La Rosa provided most of the run support by going 1-2 with 2 RBIs. He crushed a solo home run in the fifth to tie the game back at one. De La Rosa then took the lead by connecting with a sac fly to plate Jordan Edgerton. Braxton ended his short three game hit streak and has struck out 5 of his last 7 ABs. Ozhaino Albies also ended his nine game hit streak as he went 0-3 but helped the team by plating a run on a sacrifice bunt in the eighth.
