For most of this week, we've been hearing rumors that the Braves were going after Jonny Gomes. Now, they're no longer going after Gomes because they've nabbed the noted lover of America on a 1-year deal.
Gomes has a one-year deal with Braves with a vesting option, according to source.

The 34-year old righty will help fill the role of left field this season, and he'll probably be doing so as part of a platoon. Who Gomes will be platooning with is anybody's guess at this point, but at least it's nice to know that the Braves have filled one part of the platoon.
Gomes played for the Boston Red Sox and Oakland A's last season, hitting .234/.327/.330 with .297 wOBA, 86 wRC+, and 6 HRs. Most importantly, he hit .276/.373/.371 with .334 wOBA and 112 wRC+ vs. lefties last season. If he can replicate that type of production vs. left-handed pitching in 2015, then I don't think anybody's going to complain about this signing.
UPDATE:
We've got the financial numbers and, um, yeah.
