Friday saw a phenomenal start from Rome starter Yean Carlos Gil. The 23-year-old went 7.2 innings, only allowing five hits while striking out five. This continues his great run of success that this level this season, now posting a 70:14 strikeout-to-walk in 83 innings. Keith Curico had himself a day, smacking his first home run of the season and knocking his second double at the single-A level. Curico projects to be more of a speed based player, so any sort of power from the 5'10" center fielder would be a bonus.

It was a rare loss for the D-Braves Friday, as a five run 8th for Burlington put the game out of reach. Colby Holmes was the name charged for those runs, giving up those five in one inning of work. Andry Ubiera got the start, giving up two runs over four innings, raising his ERA in rookie ball to 1.80. Jordan Edgerton was the only real story on offense, lifting his third home run of the season. He continues his hot start, now hitting .408 on the season.
