*WILD RUMOR KLAXON SOUNDS*
Alright folks so twitter is talking about some crazy trade rumor involving the Braves and you shouldn't listen to this one because... actually wait this rumor makes a lot of sense.
Jon Heyman of CBS Sports is reporting the Braves have made lefty specialist Andrew Miller of the Boston Red Sox their primary target to upgrade their bullpen. According to Heyman,
The Braves are believed to be looking closely at lefty Andrew Miller of the Red Sox as their prime bullpen target, with some other lefties in the mix...Miller, a free agent after the year, is having a spectucular season in Boston's pen (64 strikeouts and only 12 walks in 39 1/3 innings to go with a 2.52 ERA), and the fading Red Sox have said they are now "listening" to trade inquiries.
Okay so yeah this is the kind of move that makes all the sense in the world. The Red Sox are going nowhere this year so they have zero reason to hold onto a lefty bullpen specialist who will be a free agent in three months. The Braves are desperately in need of an upgrade to the left side of their bullpen with only rookie Chasen Shreve currently available to fill that role.
Miller is having a spectacular season with a 2.52 ERA and a 1.77 FIP. Several other outlets have confirmed Heyman's rumor that the Braves are looking at Miller so I would mark this rumor down as likely. The Braves will acquire a lefty for the bullpen before the trade deadline. Andrew Miller seems like the perfect candidate to be that guy. Hopefully, the Braves can make this deal happen as soon as possible.
