Jacob deGrom pitched a pretty good game for the Mets. Fortunately for the Braves, his one bad inning was what ended up costing his team the victory, as Chris Johnson came through with the bases loaded and 2 out in the bottom of the 1st for a 3-run double that ended up being all the runs that the Braves would need for their 7th consecutive victory.
Julio Teheran started things off on the mound with an extremely smooth top of the 1st. That'd be a trend for Teheran for the early goings of the game. Meanwhile, Jacob deGrom had the exact opposite of a smooth 1st inning, as the top of the Braves' lineup all reached base; B.J. Upton got on with a single, and then Andrelton Simmons and Freddie Freeman both received free passes to 1st. This set the table nice and neat for the meat of the Braves' lineup.
Justin Upton came up and struck out for the first of 3 times as he couldn't seem to figure out deGrom tonight. Jason Heyward flew out to right, but it wasn't deep enough to bring B.J. in. This meant that the hopes for a positive inning for the Braves laid squarely on the shoulders of Chris Johnson. With the count at 2-2, deGrom threw a changeup and Johnson blazed it past Eric Campbell at 3rd and the ball went down the line for a bases-clearing 3-run double. Tommy La Stella struck out to end the inning, but by then the damage was done and the Braves were up by 3 thanks to Chris Johnson (which also meant that we got to avoid seeing this unfortunate tweet over on the ol' Twitter machine).
Meanwhile, Julio Teheran cruised through 7 innings of work with 5 strikeouts, 3 walks, and only 1 earned run. That run came on a sacrifice fly from Curtis Granderson in the 4th inning. This was the inning where Julio Teheran finally allowed a baserunner after he retired the first 9 batters he saw. Other than that and an incident where the Colombian ace got bopped with a comebacker in that same 4th inning (which, luckily enough, saved a run), Teheran had little-to-no problem dealing with the Mets tonight and whatever problems he did have, they were handled accordingly.
An example of this was when Eric Young reached with a leadoff single in the 6th inning. Earlier this season, Young proved that he could be a menace to the Braves on the basepaths with his potential to steal bases. However, Teheran picked him off as he attempted to nab 2nd base tonight, and Young was easily thrown out during a rundown back to 1st. Teheran eventually made it out of the inning unscathed, with the pickoff being the big play of the inning.
Meanwhile, more defensive prowess was on display later on in the 8th inning, with Anthony Varvaro on the mound. With Juan Lagares at 1st, Daniel Murphy came up to the plate looking to finally start something for the Mets. He nearly did so when he looped the ball up the middle of the infield. It eluded Varvaro's grasp and nearly bounced through the infield, but it didn't get past Tommy La Stella as TLS made a spectacular diving grab-and-flip to 2nd to force Lagares for the 2nd out of the inning. Varvaro then struck out Granderson to snuff out the Mets' hopes in the 8th.

Jordan Walden entered the game in the 9th and picked up right where he left off last night by pitching a squeaky-clean inning to lock down the series sweep and win #47 for the Braves. That's now 7 in a row for Atlanta, and with the schedule continuing to have a bit of a soft look to it for the foreseeable future, it's good to see that just like the weather, the Braves are starting to really heat up.
