Gwinnett Braves at Norfolk Tides: rained out
So, it appears that the Tides may have taken their nickname just a bit too literally yesterday.

Gwinnett and Norfolk will make up this game as part of a doubleheader on Saturday. They'll also play a doubleheader this evening to make up a previously-postponed game.

Lynchburg lost 11-6 to Carolina last night. Wes Parsons started on the mound, and had a rough night. Parsons was ineffective in four innings on the bump, allowing seven hits and two walks, which led to five runs, four of which were earned. Parsons struck out three hitters and generated tons of ground balls, but he still had trouble with retiring hitters. Worse than that, Parsons had to leave the game in the fourth inning after suffering an apparent injury.
And Wes Parsons' night is abruptly done. Did not see why. He called out the trainers after an 84 mph slider. Did not look comfortable

It appeared that Parsons' injury was of the upper-arm variety, according to Sordelett and pitching coach Derrick Lewis.
Never mind. Team surgeon is looking at Parsons' right arm. Specifically bicep/tricep area.

#Hillcats pitching coach Derrick Lewis said Parsons felt discomfort in his right arm and they took him out as a precaution. #Braves

Hopefully, Parsons' injury is minor and won't be a big blow for the righty, but we'll keep you updated. Nate Hyatt took care of three innings after Parsons' injury and allowed a grand slam. David Peterson also struggled, allowing a pair of runs in two innings. Despite the loss, Lynchburg did have a nice day offensively. José Martinez led the charge with a solo home run and a pair of doubles. Kevin Ahrens also added two doubles, along with a single, and Eric Garcia contributed a three-single game. Will Skinner had a pair of knocks in the game, including a double, as did David Nick. Lynchburg now travels to Myrtle Beach to begin a series with the Pelicans tonight, with Lucas Sims on the mound.
Rome Braves: 0 vs. Hickory Crawdads: 15
- Ross Wilson, DH: 1-3, BB, K, .229
- Tanner Krietemeier, 1B: 1-3, BB, .333
- Victor Reyes, RF: 1-4, K, .267
- Carlos Franco: 1-4, K, E (18, throwing), .233
- Sal Giardina, C: 2-4, 2 K, .243
- Tyler Brosius (L): 1.1 IP, 6 H, 8 ER, 4 BB, 0:4 GO:FO, 4.98 ERA
- Pete Perez: 2 IP, 2 H, R (0 ER), 5 K, 1:0 GO:FO, 3.08 ERA
- Richie Tate: 2 IP, H, 2 BB, 5 K, 0:1 GO:FO, 3.83 ERA
Yeah, so, that's gonna hurt the 'ol Pythagorean record. Rome was throttled by a 15-0 count against Hickory yesterday. Tyler Brosius had a disastrous start, allowing eight runs while recording four outs. He surrendered six hits and walked four batters, and that usually doesn't go too well. Michael Swanner gave up a pair of runs in 2.1 innings after that, and then Matt Weaver followed by allowing four runs in 1.1 innings. Fortunately, Pete Perez and Richie Tate each contributed a two-inning, scoreless outing. Rome's offense was unable to plate any runs despite six hits and six walks as a team. Sal Giardina had a two-hit game with a pair of singles. Victor Reyes recorded a hit as well, as did Ross Wilson, Carlos Franco, and the newly-recalled Tanner Krietemeier. Matt Marksberry will take the mound tomorrow night against Hickory, hoping for a bit more success.
