No, this isn't some "we suck" fire starter, but this team continues to struggle and there aren't any obvious solutions. Yes the offense is struggling, with only two to three players hitting well at a time (at the moment: see LaStella, Tommy; Blanco, El Oso (cover identity "Gattis, Evan)) , true, Santana is struggling (although his "struggles" are comparable to an average pitchers usual stats) and the Harang implosion is "inevitable". But is the team truly fixable. The recent article shows the bullpen is not as bad as some of us think it is, and that is an easier place to improve. Our starters are actually pretty good, giving us a chance most nights, although sometimes someone like Minor has too many back to back bad starts. Which leaves us with our offense. While the lineup is a struggle nightly (did we seriously score seven runs the other night, seems so long ago), there isn't a fixable hole outside of lineup construction. Third base and centerfield are two places where we could use improvement, however two bad contracts make it difficult to do anything. Basically, we are stuck with this lineup until the Cobb County Braves play their first game. On the bench, Doumit, Laird, and Uggla aren't going anywhere anytime soon (unfortunately), and Pena seems to be LaStella's permanent defensive replacement (had Fredi seen LaStella play defense?) which leaves us one roster space to fix all of our problems. So, is this team fixable? If so, how?
