Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs 2, Gwinnett Braves 1
- Todd Cunningham, CF: 3-5, .308
- Phill Gosselin, 3B: 2-5, .315
- Joey Terdoslavich, LF: 2-4, 2B, .327
- Hector Daniel Radriguez, SP: 6 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 3 BB, 3 K, 2.73 ERA
- Mark Lamm, RP: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 2.65 ERA
Despite outhitting the Iron Pigs 9-to-4, Gwinnett couldn't capitalize. Todd Cunningham, Phil Gosselin, and Joey Terdoslavich accounted for 7 of the 9 Gwinnett hits, with Cunningham leading the way with three. Goose (Gosselin's nickname) and Terdo each notched multi-hit games themselves, with Terdo's RBI double being the only scoring play for Gwinnett. Hector Daniel Rodriguez gave up 2 runs in 6 innings, but with a lackluster 3/3 BB/K ratio. Mark Lamm continued his good work in relief, tossing two hitless innings with a pair of punchouts.
Jacksonville Suns 4, Mississippi Braves 3
- Myke Jones, CF: 1-3, 2B, 2 BB, .273
- Kyle Kubitza, 3B: 2-4, 2B, .247
- Joe Leonard, 3B: 1-2, SB(1), .235
- Williams Perez, SP: 7 IP, 3 H, 3 R, 2 BB, 6 K, 1.83 ERA
Myke Jones set the table well for Mississippi, but no one could really cash in. Jones reached base 3 times in the losing effort with a double and two walks. Kyle Kubitza continues to heat up at the plate, as the third baseman is now slashing .324/.419/.595 in his last 10 games. Joe Leonard notched a hit and his first stolen base of the year as well. Williams Perez continued his good start to the year by hurling a 7-inning quality start and striking out 6 in the process.
Salem Red Sox 3, Lynchburg Hillcats 5
- Jose Peraza, 2B: 2-5, SB(14), .348
- Kyle Wren, CF: 1-3, 2 BB, SB(15), .267
- Kevin Ahrens, 3B: 1-4, 2B, .247
- Lay Batista, SP: 3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 1 K, 3.00 ERA
- Brandon Cunniff, RP: 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 6 K, 0.00 ERA
Lynchburg was the only team in the system that won today, and you can thank the wheels at the top of the order for that. Peraza and Wren combined to reach base 5 times and swipe 2 bags. Peraza's average is now a ridiculous .348, and while Wren's is a more mundane .267, he's drawing a good amount of walks, leading to a .353 OBP. Lay Batista made his first start of the year and was solid across three innings before turning things over to the pen. Brandon Cunniff continued his stellar start to the season by running his scoreless streak to 15.2 innings. During that time, Cunniff has struck out 21 batters in 15.2 innings.
