The Braves have traded for infielder Ozzie Martinez and have added him to Gwinnett's roster, according to the Gwinnett Braves twitter account. Martinez is nothing more than an organizational filler as he has netted just a 45 wRC+ at double-A this season. He is 26-years-old and the terms of the trade are yet to be announced. I imagine it is just a cash transaction.
The interesting part about the trade is that Gwinnett is adding an infielder. It could potentially mean that Tommy La Stella could be earning a call up in the very near future and that the Braves are close to cutting bait with Dan Uggla. Uggla is starting today so I would not be shocked if this was his last start with the Braves.
