Kipnis is the third Indians player this year to receive a contract extension along with Michael Brantley (4 yrs. $25 million) and Yan Gomes (6 yrs. $23 million). The Kipnis extension is six years for $52.5 million with a club option year.

This is one of the inherent risks of the current challenge system. Bochy contested that Matt Cain picked off A.J. Pollock at first base in the fourth inning; when the ruling was upheld, he couldn't challenge what happened soon thereafter. Pollock raced home on a passed ball and scored the tying run…at least that's the ruling.
