This was a fun game. In a little statistical oddity that would probably amuse only me, this game saw 2 home runs hit tonight and neither were by the winning team. I'm guessing that doesn't happen too often in 9-2 games. Anywho. Christian Bethancourt was bumped up to the two slot in the order last night (either to "get him going" or because Brain Snitker is a nihilist) and promptly put together his first multi-hit game in over two weeks. His average is now over the Mendoza line! Let's hope he can continue to build on last night's work. He wasn't the only one teeing off last night however, as Joey Terdoslavich, Mark Hamilton, (folk hero) Steven Lerud, and Sean Kazmar all had multi-hit games as well. On the pitching side of things, Gavin Floyd had his most encouraging rehab start to date. The righty spun five innings of four-hit, one-run ball and struck out five men.
Mississippi Braves - OFF DAY
Lynchburg Hillcats - POSTPONED
Lynchburg was scheduled for a doubleheader last night with the Potomac Nationals as a make up from Monday's rain-out. But it was still pouring last night as well, so they scrapped the doubleheader as well. These games will be made up later on in the season.
Rome Braves 2, Asheville Tourists 8
Eric Garcia, 2B: 3-4, HR(1), .194
Joey Meneses, 1B: 1-4, HR(4), .253
Victor Reyes, RF: 1-4, .326
Jared Dettmann, SP: 5.2 IP, 11 H, 7 R (6 ER), 0 BB, 3 K
So. Rome. Uh...well, they hit two homers! Eric Garcia connected on his first of the year, while Joey Meneses smacked his fourth. Other than that, this game was one giant pile of yuck.
