Eye problems have been an off and on problem for some Atlanta Braves players over the past few years and now it seems as if B.J. Upton might be questioning his eyesight at the plate. In live batting practice today, before first pitch with the Cincinnati Reds at 7:35 p.m. E.T., the starting center fielder was wearing glasses for the first time at the plate.
David O'Brien managed to capture of the new pregame look for B.J.
So far this season he is batting .205 with only one home run and two runs batted in out of the two-hole in the lineup. He has struck out 24 times in 78 at-bats this season and his eyesight may be in question other than his skill at the plate at this point. His .090 isolated power (ISO) mark is .015 points lower than last season even.
He will remain in the second spot tonight as the Braves hitters will go up against Homer Bailey (1-1, 5.75 ERA).
